Mental muscle

Yongey mingyur rinpoche said that meditation is a form of mental exercise n it helps in toning or strengthening the mental muscle.
I sort of understand.
These few days as I sat n listened to sounds, or observe simply,
my mind ran away within seconds.
Or when I had fear or worried, I became aware n let the thought go.
It is this letting go n this will to come back to meditation that meditation is helping us to exercise or get use to.
We are toning this mental muscle which is awareness which calls on us to let go
The more we do to strengthen this mental muscle, the more pliable the muscle is, the more flexible the mind is.
